Rifle Training – Wind, Mirage and Team Shooting @600 yds – All Competitors, Club Members and Guests – Open to the Public

All shooting at 600 Yds – Shoot will begin after the CMP Match has concluded.

FEE: $15 – To support ongoing range operations

Wind & Mirage Presentation: SCFGA WIND & MIRAGE READING

We will shoot rain or shine – This practice will focus on Wind, Mirage and Team shooting. The only cancellation reason or suspension once started will be due to Thunderstorms. Keep an Eye to the Sky and the Calendar!

Open Rifle Practice will be pair fire (optional) or individual fire at @600yds. Targets will already be setup – Round Count is your choice. This event is Open to the Public but only for rifles and ammunition suitable for 600yd accurate shooting..

Pair Firing will be configured if attendance and interest dictates.

From Mid-Nov till to April muzzle brakes are allowed – Silencers are welcome – bring them if you have them.

We have a very skilled group of shooters, Some are State and Regional Champions, experienced Wind Coaches, National and International Competitors who, while there to practice, are more importantly ready to provide knowledge, experience and coaching to build your shooting skills or to help any shooter who would like any kind of assistance.

This is a good opportunity for Club Members who wish to be vetted to do so with highly qualified support.

This is a great opportunity for new members or prospective members interested in Rifle to get acquainted with Mid Range shooting and also accomplish 500/600yd Range qualification.

If you are not vetted for 500/600 range use, but wish to be, you should be prepared as follows:

  1. Bring the specific rifle(s) for which you wish to be vetted.
  2. Have a 100-yd or 200-yd zero already set on that rifle.
  3. Know how to make informed elevation adjustments on the attached scope.
  4. Have elevation tables for the specific ammunition you will be using (if using handload, an equivalent factory table is recommended).
  5. Have a stable front and rear rest for use at these yardages (sling shooters should be equally prepared).
  6. Have a shooting mat, tarp or other ground covering.
  7. Per safety rules at all ranges, have ear an eye protection, and an empty chamber indicator.

Knowledge of the electronic targeting system and target setup is not required.  You should plan to arrive at the designated setup time, inform the event coordinator that you wish to be vetted and be prepared assist with target setup.  A smart phone or tablet is recommended.  If you do not have one, please inform that event coordinator when you arrive so we can provide you a loaner.

Bring a friend or guest (don’t forget to have them sign their release). Club Members, Members in the Application Process and Guests can be provided assistance in sighting in their rifle (best effort) and joining the others on the 600yd Range.

As always, safety is paramount.  Remember your Eyes and Ears as well as your empty chamber indicator. RSOs, Coaches with a broad base of knowledge and a great group of people will be there to provide assistance and coaching to anyone who asks.
