20 July 9am-1pm

It is every parent’s nightmare:  your child discovers an unattended firearm.  It could be at a friend’s house, on the street, or even in your own home.  Does your child know what to do?  It is the responsibility of every parent to teach our children firearms responsibility and safety.  Gun owning parents have an added responsibility in order to raise a child to become an integral part of the firearms community.  Education and information, not ignorance and misinformation, are the keys to preparing your children to become safe, responsible members of the community.  In doing so we reduce the instances of firearms accidents and save lives.  Open communication and reinforcement of safe gun handling skills with all family members will promote greater firearms safety for everyone.

Topics covered in the course include:

  • The 4 Universal Firearm Safety Rules
    • Firearm and ammunition fundamentals
    • How to safely handle firearms at home and at the range
    • Accident prevention and Safe firearm storage
    • How to make gun safety a family responsibility

Upon completion of the course, you and your family will be better prepared to deal with the awesome responsibility of firearms in the community and gun ownership, plus build more confidence in all of your family members to keep the whole family safe.  The class is offered FREE to SF&G Club members, and is limited to 9 families on a first come, first served basis.  For more information, contact Roy Gorman  (royo@fairpoint.net).
